Privacy Policy — Daily Shloks
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Daily Shloks does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data anywhere outside your own phone. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything the app knows about you stays on the device, and is deleted when you uninstall it.
Information the app uses
All of the following is held only in the app's private storage on your device:
- The list of apps you chose to block. Stored as Android package names.
- Which of those apps you have already unlocked today, so you are not asked to read a second verse for the same app.
- The names and icons of apps installed on your phone, so the app can show you a list to choose from. These are read when you open that list and held in memory only while the app is running; they are not saved to disk.
- Your reading progress — which verses you have read, your streak, and your language and verse-mode preferences.
The accessibility permission
Daily Shloks uses Android's accessibility service for exactly one purpose: to notice the moment you open an app you have chosen to block, so it can show you a shloka first.
When a blocked app opens, the service receives the package name of that app and checks it against the list you chose. If it is not one of yours, it is discarded immediately. If it is, that package name is saved briefly in the app's own private storage so the verse screen knows which app you were opening, and is cleared as soon as it has been used. Nothing is sent off the device at any point.
The app does not read the contents of your screen. This is
enforced technically, not just by policy — the service is declared with
canRetrieveWindowContent="false", which means Android does not
give it access to screen content at all. It cannot see your messages, your
passwords, or anything you type, in any app.
You can turn this permission off at any time in Android Settings → Accessibility. Blocking stops working, and nothing else in the app is affected.
Information shared with others
None. The app makes no network requests. Your data is not sold, shared, or disclosed to any third party, because it never leaves your phone in the first place.
The one exception is entirely under your control: if you choose to share a verse card using the share button, the verse image and text are handed to whichever app you pick — a messaging app, for example. That happens only when you tap share, and what the receiving app does with it is governed by its own privacy policy.
Children
Daily Shloks is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. You can also clear it without uninstalling, in Android Settings → Apps → Daily Shloks → Storage → Clear data. There is no server-side copy to request deletion of.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes to how the app handles data will also be disclosed inside the app.
